When racing keenly shifted out off heels near the 900m. RAND 30/12/2023 Podium Queen (NZ) COT: To be ridden more conservatively where comfortable; settled worse than midfield. Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between rnrs which shifted in slightly. Held up in the early part of the home straight. RHIL 20/05/2023 A Silvery Warrior Rdr permitted to ride 0.5kg over allotted weight. GOSF 07/12/2023 Race 8 BISLEY WORKWEAR HANDICAP 1500M Special Envoy (GB) Bumped on jumping. When questioned, rdr std despite being ridden along in early stages his mnt did not show sufficient speed to hold a prominent position & consequently settled near midfield. Added mnt travelled satisfactorily in this position, but when placed under full pressure in the straight was racing on the wrong leg & was very disappointing. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Co-tnr subsequently reported gelding pulled up well but has now been spelled. Notwithstanding, co-tnr was told a vet clearance is required prior to having to barrier trial. RAND 30/12/2023 Step Aside (NZ) Approaching the 500m had to be checked and lost ground. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 150m where it improved into a tight run. Held up rounding the home turn until passing the 150m where it made contact with another rnr when forcing a run CANT 05/01/2024 Crafty Eagle COT: To be ridden further forward; settled outside lead. Bumped on jumping. When qst re tempo, rdr std instructed to race prominently. Std mnt began well & after travelling 200m he allowed mnt to roll forward to settle outside lead whereby he deliberately raced wider on track to have it travel comfortably. Std mnt had to do some work to cross to be positioned outside lead at 1100m, but it would not settle & although aware a strong tempo was being set, he was not able to have it settle any better, & due to tempo in early & mid stages was left without a finishing effort over final 200m. RAND 06/01/2024 Olympic Theatre (GB) Rdr reported it was his intention to settle in a position with cover, and after beginning well from the outside barrier, and with the expected leader drawn to his immediate inside, he was able to follow that rnr across without having to pressure his mnt and obtained a position outside the leader which was further forward than intended. CANT 05/01/2024 Waverider Buoy Rider reported the mare did not run on as expected when having to make its run to the inside of horses in the straight.
